Edwardian Floor Restoration, Stockton Heath

Although there was an exposed section of the tiled floor near the front door, the rest of the hallway had been carpeted over for many years to cover up 3 significant areas of damage and many loose and broken tiles.  The concrete infills and adjacent loose tiling were removed and then the base was prepared ready for re-tiling:

The floor was extremely tightly laid originally. It was essential to ensure that the replacement tiling was a perfect match in both colour and size to ensure grout lines remained miniscule and the repairs blended into the original tiling.  The octagonal red tiles were slightly larger than is usual so we sourced reclaimed red squares that we then cut to match the exact size of the originals.  The replacement tiles were then laid and grouted.

After an intensive clean to remove years of paint, grime and dirt, the floor was then sealed with an impregnating sealer giving a long-lasting and robust finish to the tiles.
